Much has changed sinced last March at the Rainbow Cafe in Pine Island. Under new ownership, the restaurant as well as the menu has undergone a major makeover. Both owners are classically French trained chefs, Jeremy running the kitchen as head chef and Jen the pastry chef as well as the front of the house manager. They are no strangers to the Rochester culinary scene, both having gained experience at many of the fine dining restaurants in the community. While most of the sandwich menu is still intact, there are quite a few new menu items for the summer. For starters, the local cheese plate is a favortite, changing the local cheeses and accompaniments weekly - or the citrus shrimp cocktail, which is a nice change from the old norm. Lunch specials range from $4.50 for our homemade soup and romaine salad to $9.95 daily. For dinner, the Pan-seared Scallops with a caramel apple buerre blanc and haystack sweet potatoes are a huge hit, along with the Portabella Pasta and the Duck Breast glazed with apricots... many entrees are paired with fresh asparagus, also grown locally. Great comfort food to be had as well... from scratch Mac & Cheese and some of the best burgers you've ever had, of course, on homemade buns. The cafe also boasts an updated and fairly extensive wine list, serving 20 wines by the glass, as well as import and domestic beer. The house Sangria is a huge summer favorite! The cafe also has an eclectic dessert list, changing each week to fit the seasonal ingredients and flavors of our community. The Creme Brule and the Maple Cinnamon Bread Pudding are here year-round by the request of our guests! We also offer a Sunday Brunch every week from 9am-1pm (staff favorite: homemade biscuits and gravy).
